FAQ
Is it available on Android?
Not yet. iPhone first. Anyone not on iOS can still see the trip through a guest companion link — they get itinerary, dates, and locations without needing the app.
Why another trip planning app?
Because the existing ones solve one slice — expenses (Splitwise), itinerary (TripIt), docs (Google Docs), chat (iMessage) — and groups end up juggling all four. GroupCation is the first app built for the person who ends up coordinating all of that, not just one piece.
How are expenses split?
Equal, exact amounts, percentages, shares, weighted splits, kid-weighted, and household-aware allocation. The app proposes the minimum number of settlements automatically — no more "wait who owes who."
Can I pay someone back in the app?
Yes. Payment requests with optional Stripe-hosted payment links, so the person on the hook gets one tap to pay. Paid state reconciles automatically.
What's the pricing?
Free during beta. Post-launch: a generous free tier for casual trips, with paid features for power users (unlimited trips, advanced splits, receipt OCR, premium imports).
Does it work for business travel?
The schema supports it, but business travel isn't a first-class workflow yet. We're leaning into leisure group trips first.
Is my data private?
Yes. Trips are scoped to the people you invite, authenticated via Apple sign-in or email. We use Supabase Row Level Security to enforce access at the database level — not just in the app. See our privacy policy.
